The grass is always greener on the other side......

Often, I would dwell on how other people's life far better or exciting compared to mine. It's not that I want to, but sometimes you'll feel this way especially when you are stuck doing something mundane...and others don't.

wouldn't you???

I mean, the saying 'the grass is greener on the other side' does fit with these feelings that you have, but what i've realised yesterday,as I was brushing my teeth was... the grass will always appear to be greener than the one in your backyard, simply because you don't look close enough at your own grass...

Thus, you dont' see the beauty of your own grass.Right??

Other people may have have all the good things that I only can pray to have but in the midst off all, you have to appreciate what's in your own backyard first.Once you do, then you'll realise that whatever it is that you have is not that bad after all....

Your grass is actually as green as the grass on the other side!

It also occurred to me last night, as I was getting ready for bed that...
I may envy with what other people get to experience or whatnot but in the end I'm thankful that
  • I have a good place that I can call home here in Brisbane. Some people live in much horrible places!
  • I have enough money for basic necessities. Some people have to steal.
  • I get to experience some of the good things in life.I get to travel and experience new environment, meet people from all walks of life. Some people doesn't even have the opportunity.
  • I get to encounter different people from all walks of life and become friends with them
  • I have not much friends maybe, but I have a few ones that I really love and cherish so much. And I'm so glad to have known them.
  • I have my family. We may not be close knit, affectionate or very close towards each other...but I have them.Think about those who are unfortunate.
  • I live in the best time of the century.I wouldn't want to live during the Japanese occupation or during WWII.
  • I live in a peaceful country.Some people dont.

So, whenever I feel this way, I guess i'll have to repeat this mantra to myself over and over again, 'The grass is always greener on the other side, but if you look closely in your own backyard, you'll realise the beauty of your own grass....'

I am missing her-badly

Some people say that boyfriends come and go, but true friends are here to stay. And I do believe that saying is kinda true. You see, all the guys that I've known do come and go, but..there's always one friend who's right there for me.Always.

And it's kinda funny how fate brought us together. Two people who are unlikely to become best friends, and we are. The best of friends. We actually met during English class(I do remember how i make friends with people, you see...) and our ice breaker was her asking me about my watch, where did i get it and whatnot. Well, the watch is already gone, a long, long time ago...but she is still here.

And she's always here.Even when I''m here in Brisbane. I can feel her with me, although she's not there, physically.....

And I admit that I miss her badly.

I taught her how to go to mid by train, where her mum called me and scolded me.

We took her mum's Kancil to putrajaya, and actually drove on the motorcycle lane.

She called me when her rabbits died.On the phone.

She visited me and made me a caramel pudding when I was down with chicken pox.

She is my confidante.

We went to My Chemical Romance together.Just the two of us.Ha.

She's like a sister to me.I love and care for her so much.

I tried to make her stay when her mum tried to transfer her to another school.

And I waited for her, wanting to see her for the last time....don't want to board the plane before seeing her...at the airport.

And I still do sometimes,to see whether she's online or not.

Coz she's my best friend. And I'm glad to have her.

Even when we annoy each other.

Even when we hurt each other's feelings.

I had so many precious memories shared with her....from high school til now. and I'm looking forward to share more with her....

Gosh, I feel so lesbian rite now.Hahaha.

anzac parade.

Friday, 25th April 2008. went to Anzac parade on queen st. basically, I was intrigued with the e-mail sent by Jan regarding the Anzac day and its significant on the people in Australia and New Zealand. it's the day where they remember those who fought during the WW1 and WW2.
It was good day to go out and witness this event, even when the whether is a bit windy.

At the parade, I can see that people of all ages, races and nationality united in remembering those who served during the war. It really got me thinking how hard it must have been to the soldiers and their family. they were sent somewhere because of the policy of their government that time, and of course, left their family behind.some return home safely, and some never.
some become handicapped.and it is all in the name of war.

back in Malaysia, people do remember those soldiers that had served the country, but not that much i guess. being in another country does open your mind, you see. i got to see, and got to feel the patriotism on that day.and this has made me more appreciative of my own country.in retrospect, it was a good experience going to the Anzac parade. in a way, it changed my perspective on certain things, especially my views on the the world. it was something good to witness...
and everyone loves a good parade, now and then, don't they? =)

part 2 of the previous blog.

......and to my surprise, I woke up in the plane on my way back to Brisbane, only to discover that Richard Branson, was on the same plane!!!! Well, he's not the passenger of the flight that day,but more of like 'turun padang' hahaha. I was like, totally starstruck. This is like, THE Richard Branson, Sir Richard Branson, the owner of all things Virgin(virgin records, virgin airways, virgin mobile...and the plane that i'm in, virgin blue.) Must be my lucky day, eh???

I was like "Shit! Syefah, that's richard branson!! take a pic!!!" and we did. And I have to say that he's a nice and friendly guy.Down to earth. He actually do the whole 'meet-and-greet' thingy on the plane. Yes, I shook hands with Sir Richard himself....he was like "Hello, how are you?" to everyone on the plane. Choc was funny though. She shook hands with richard and right after that, asked the passenger next to her "who is that?". Hahaha. It's funny that a larger than life figure like him is still unknown to some people.kinda give some points to ponder.

richard branson.taken on the flight back to Brisbane.not a D60, though!

the not so recent, ehem, blog.

I know that I've been neglecting my blog for awhile.Yeah, I am...due to a few unavoidable reasons(assignments, esp. haha). Been busy with a few things, emotionally, spiritually and erm, nevermind. So, after struggling myself to death with the assignments(horrid word, I konw), finally I have some free time to focus on a few unattended things, such as my beloved blog.Hahaha

Well, everybody deserves a break sometimes, aite??I mean, of course, I got a couple of assignments that I need to work on but who cares(for the time being la...)???Which reminds me of my one week Easter break. Went to Sydney for a bit of escapism and all that.It was good really, and I shall write a blog about it.

Syefah, Choc, Nora and I went to Sydney on the same flight and came back also on the same flight(diff company, though!). So, I finally get to see the place that I've always wanted to go to and I have to admit that Sydney is so...breathtaking. We stayed at the Macquarie Village(hope I get the name right!) for a bout a week and yadda, yadda. Ok, the blog has become too secondary school academic writing

us,bored at the airport =p

Yeah, I had fun doing some sight-seeing, and going to places that I can dream of, but somewhere deep down inside of me, there's something missing.I dunno. To be completely honest,I've always wanted to go to Sydney and study there. But fate got me to Brisbane. It occurred to me during the trip that I did write an essay for my LDV on why I wanted to go to Macquarie Uni and study there. And, what hurts me the most is probably when I see myself in another environment. What could've been if I were to study there and those kind of question. I'm just not sure if i did the right choice by switching to primary school and go to QUT instead of Macquarie Uni. Just one of those, unrealised dream, you see. And yeah, I miss my friends over there. And going there make me realise of how things have changed, and I'm still the same.Vague, huh??

But nevertheless,I fell in love with the place.I love the weather, even when its freaking cold.I love everything.Even farizah's housemate, Dan.hahahaha. =p

on the ferry with dee.

and yeah all good things must come to an end as our break come to an end.So, went back home...with a heavy heart.I actually cried, on the plane, before falling asleep. Only to wake up with a surprise.........
and not forgetting, special thnx to ash, ine( esp.for the shelter n uncle tobys!), dee, farizah(the cake!!),chong, poh lin(i luv dancing wif u,gal),nuar, ning, zaki, mimi(nice nasi lemak).Thnx for being a part of my journey..... =)
