To make ends meet.

Last night,as I was stuck in my room with boredom, Syefah and I went to Hasan's. We accompanied him since he stayed at home alone, since Ka and Zaim went to the city and still haven't returned.

Struck with boredom again, we listened to some of his traditional songs recording before we decided to watch a Malay telemovie, Takbir Suci. I think the telemovie had been shown on Malaysian TV several times already but I haven't got the chance to watch it. From what Syefah and Hasan commented on the drama-it's a tearjerker. A classic Hari Raya Aidilfitri tearjerker.
We actually watched the drama into a few sections since it was downloaded from Youtube. At first, I managed to be the one who is 'all-strong-and-composed' by not crying at every sad scene. Eventually, I burst out crying during the scene where the orphans ran away fro the grandparents' home on the night of 1st Syawal, reciting Yassin at their parents' graveyard. Somehow, the three of us were laughing as we cried, all having the same thoughts, if not, only me with "Kenape cerita ni sedih sangat???" or "Why are we crying, everyone??".
It's seriously a tearjerker. I heard there's even a sequel. Gotta watch that one too.

Today, I'm heavily reminded of the hardships portrayed of the Atan's family in that telemovie. Especially since I was eating a slice of bread that has expired, quarter of the baked beans that I saved since 3 days ago and fried egg. I feel so poor with that meal. But then again, it's still food and it taste so good. Screw the fact that I might end up in the hospital later. It's all that I got left anyways. My post-Winter holidays food. Compared to what the family in Takbir Suci has to eat, that is quite well-off.

Last night's telemovie also taught me of the hardships that people have to go through in order to make ends meet. The dad is working hard in order to support the family. The eldest son is doing odd job after school in order to help the parents. The parents just want the kids to celebrate Raya with new clothes and whatnot, even when they can't afford to do so.....My parents never fail to provide my brother and I new clothes for Raya. How lucky are we compared to those people?
How we can afford new shoes every month when some has to walk barefoot to school? How can we complained that our meal is not satisfying or delicious when some people starve?

Even though the telemovie is kinda low-budget,simple or not a blockbuster or whatsoever, the message intended managed to touch me and give me a few perspectives in life. A good one, I must say.

Now, that sounds like a movie/telemovie review, huh?

Just a thought.

Recently, I've encountered numerous different things that has the same theme:-Friendship. It could be a friend talking about their friends, a blog about their friend, a movie about friend and whatnot. It also would be about how a person misses a friend, how A don't want to be friends with B due to certain reasons and many others that sometimes touched my heart or amuse me.
A few days ago, while I was browsing through my Facebook profile, I noticed that I got a few people in my circles or Top Friends application......compared to others. I guess I'm not that extroverted or maybe I'm the type of person who prefers to have a small knit of friends that I really value and trust than having thousands of people that I barely know. Personally, I consider someone to be a close friend if I know the person well enough and trust that person, and the most important thing-we have to share the same wavelenght.

But then again, I contradict myself sometimes and I realized that not every close friend of mine share the same interest or views with me.I'm friends with a unique mixture of people. That is the the that make friendship such a beautiful thing. We are connected to another person due to some shared interest yet, we are all different. It's really interesting when you have a broad range of friends,it helps you see a wider perspective of the world, if not, human being. And how I love that. I love making friends with new people each day, meeting people from different walks of life.Sometimes, it's kinda sad that people befriend you for the wrong reason, or decided to cut ties with you for that reason. At the end of the day, we should realize that nobody is the same and we can't expect someone to change for you. Just accept someone as your friend just the way they are. Friendship has no boundaries. There should be no reason why you shouldn't be friends with someone due to their differences, right?
We should be friends with everyone regardless of their-
  • sex and gender
  • race
  • religion
  • nationality
  • physical appearances
  • political views
  • status

Most importantly, we learn to respect one another, their values or beliefs if we realise that no one is the same and each individual is different and unique in his or her way. There's no harm in having friends with different interest or others, I think.

things to ponder.

Today, when I was feeling down
He makes me smile
Everyday
Every minute
Every moment.
And it's hard to let him go.

An instant update on myself.

New semester has started recently....and now life is back to its usual again. Took 3 new electives this sem, which promises workload.Prior than that, I'm also busy practicing for the EKKA performances, somewhere in August. Going to re-do NCG's Asmaradana plus a joget zapin.Kinda nervous.Hahahaha.
Other than that, I just got back from a 2 weeks vacation from New Zealand(more update on that later!). Toured the whole South Island and visited friends in Auckland and Wellington. It was one of the best vacation I ever had.Magnificent......and the aftermath is a penniless me, not to mention gaining some extra pounds.Thanx to all the delicious, yet detrimental junk food and fast food that I had in NZ.
Eurgh. And now I have to work out a bit. Feeling a bit sluggish from all the junk food consumed. Plus, I looked like a bloated whale. Seriously.I cant even fit in my jeans anymore. Hopefully I manage to get back 2 my normal weight(before NZ) in a few months time.
If you happen to wonder what I'm doing right now, well I'm writing this new entry right now. Totally struck with boredom and homesickness...I'm not much in the mood lately, and I guess this can be shown through this post. Get me out of Brisbane. I cant stand of another misery =(
Later, am off to Digital Media lecture and tute, 6-9pm.....
so, I should take a nap or something. Me thinks.

Songs that I just can't get enough of.

  • Radar-Britney Spears: Who cares if people think that I'm so cheesy listening to Britney? This song is totally catchy and always get me in the groove. Iner and I would sing it together over and over again back then, and now, even my housemates are into it. I just luv the song!
  • Low-Flo Rida and T-Pain: This is the ultimate clubbing anthem of the year. Everytime I listen to the song, whether am in the mall, in my room or when i'm working out, i just feel like dancing, dancing not to mention wearing 'apple bottom jeans, boots with the fur'.hahahaha.
  • Stay-Estrella: Muzzy is highly responsible for introducing me to this local band. This song is so soothing with the jazz kinda feeling, so perfect if you're broken-hearted in love or just can't stand the coldness of winter. A very sweet song. Reminds me of someone. =)
  • Somos novios-Andrea Bocelli and Christina Aguilera: The first time I heard this song was when I was browsing some clothes in Miss Selfridge.I got hooked on the song that I refused to leave the store until the song ends. I feel moved everytime I take a listen to this song, even when I don't understand a single word, except when both of them sing '..it's just impossible'. Probably about unrequited love.
  • American Boy-Estelle feat Kanye West: A catchy song that never fails to lift my mood up whenever I'm down!
  • 2+2=5-Radiohead: I love this song, especially the angst. Enuff said.
  • Gimme more- Britney Spears: This is the ultimate comeback song, even for normal people like us, if we suffered some kind of fall of grace.Especially with the opening line 'It's Britney, bitch!' Always get me in the mood to dance, note to mention pole dancing.
  • Stronger-Kanye West: When Kanye sampled Daft Punk's 'Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger', one know that it's going to be a classic.A very catchy song with a catchy line ' that don't kill me, can only make me stronger'.
  • Viva La Vida-Coldplay: This is a good song with a cool advert. Hahaha. Everytime I see the Coldplay's itunes ad on tv, I pay full attention esp to Chris, coz I think he looks really, really sexy in that ad.Hahaha.
